P/F Magn was until April 1^st of this year better known as Føroya Shell. Magn means strength and energy, and it is exactly how we’d like to view our company, seemingly as an energy provider to the Faroese community, rather than just an oil distributor.

 

All though we have rebranded the company, we’ll continue to sell and distribute most of Shell’s quality products. Other energy fields are being explored, and will become a significant part of our business setup in the future.

 

Magn has about 120 employees that trough education, experience and professional and friendly attitude provide the power to Faroese homes, industry, ships and people every single day.

 

It all started in 1925, when a visionary businessman called Christian Holm Jacobsen imported the first barrel of oil from A/S Dansk-Engelsk Benzin & Petroleum Co. which had Shell UK as the main shareholder. The total turnover that year was just over 50.000 Dkr

 

All import of oil to the Faroe Islands was in barrels the first 10 years. The 17^th of October 1934 the British vessel Freshmore could for the first time, offload its cargo in the into the newly built oil depot at the Shell pier in Tórshavn. The yearly turnover that same year reached almost a million dkr.

 

After that things developed rapidly and the company crew to become one of the largest businesses on the islands as it still is today.

 

On the 29^th of May 2007 Shell Faroes was traded on from Shell Group Int. to the Icelandic company P/F Fonns, but still maintained its position as a Shell representative on the islands. October 1^st. 2007 Mr. Hendrik Egholm was appointed the new CEO of the company.

 

Since than P/F Magn has strengthen its position in certain strategic and key areas. In particular the business area within B2B and Marine sales, has been developed and stepped forward. The main reason can be contributed to the appointment of Mr. William H. Nielsen, Supply – and Marine Manager.

 

William has an education both as a Marine engineer and as a Graduate Engineer, and has further more a vast work experience in both fields. Thereby is Magn able to provide you with the very best source of information, when choosing the right solution of fuels and lubricants for your engines.
